many_women_were_also_there_auto.jpg    The new English volume: Many women were also there…The participation of Orthodox Women in the Ecumenical Movement is a co-publication of WCC and the Volos Academy for Theological Studies. Included in the volume are distinctive voices of Orthodox women –well-known theologians with long involvement and significant contribution in the ecumenical movement, but also promising young theologians with new insights– echoing the achievements and weaknesses of the participation of Orthodox women in the ecumenical debate in the past, articulating the concerns and challenges of the present moment in conjunction with Orthodox women’s current presence in the ecumenical movement, and envisioning their future participation in it and shape of its agenda. The book is a coherent collection of 18 papers - most of them presented at the Volos Consultation, which was organized by ‘Women in Church and Society’ Program of WCC and the Volos Academy for Theological Studies in June, 8-12, 2008 (Volos, Greece).  The writers of the volume offer a historical and theological assessment of their participation in the ecumenical conversations up to present, and emphasize the areas of future work according to the needs of their particular contexts.
The editors of the volume are: Dr. Eleni Kasselouri-Hatzivassiliadi, Lecturer at the Hellenic Open University and Academic Staff of the Volos Academy, Dr. Fulata Mbano Moyo, Program Executive of WCC (Women in Church and Society) and Aikaterini Pekridou, PhD Candidate of Trinity College (Dublin) and Academic External Collaborator of the Volos Academy for Theological Studies.
The book contains the Report of the Consultation and the Address of H.E. Metropolitan of Demetrias and Almyros Ignatios. Prefaces are written by Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzidis, Director of the Volos Academy for Theological Studies and Dr. Fulata Mbano Moyo. Among the Contributors are:  Kyriaki Karidoyannes FitzGerald, Leonie Liveris, Tamara Grdelidze, Dimitra Koukoura, Aggeliki Ziaka, Spyridoula Athanasopoulou-Kypriou, Katerina Karkala-Zorba, Natallia Vasilevich, Anastasia Gkitsi, Olga Lossky, Teva Regule, Phoebe Farag Mikhail, Maria (Kouremenou) Khoury, Maha Milki Wehbe etc.
